
ERANETMED funded by the EC’s 7th Framework Programme has made a call preannouncement for research proposals in the fields of Renewable Energies, Water Resources and their connections for the Mediterranean Region. In specific, the call will be aimed at research groups from Algeria, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Jordan, Greece, Germany, Italy, Lebanon, Malta, Portugal, Tunisia, Turkey and Spain.
The official call will take place on the 1st of November 2014 and the final deadline for submissions is the 31st of January 2015.
Projects must address only one main Theme: Renewable Energy or Water or Water- Energy Nexus. Each of the three themes must be addressed by focusing solely on one or more of the sub-themes.
The Renewable Energy theme includes the subthemes of a) Hybrid renewable energy system integration, b) Smart Micro-grids, c) Renewable energy and energy efficiency for smart and rural communities.
The Water theme includes the subthemes of a) Integrated water management from the catchment to coastal zone, b) Integrated water use efficiency, c) Water reuse in agriculture, d) Water desalination.
Applicants could also address energy and water issues in the same project under the theme of Water- Energy Nexus.
The proposals should include elements of collaborative research, innovation, capacity building and mobility, as well as cover socio-economic, governance, ICT and gender issues. The active participation of key industrial partners and technology suppliers is encouraged to form a multi-sector, multi-disciplinary consortium able to achieve the full impact on the theme. Awareness and innovative capacity building approaches are encouraged.
The duration of a project can range between 24 and 36 months.
